A word from the principal

Thanks for visiting our website. I hope that, as you browse, you get a tiny glimpse of the amazing things God is doing at our school. With nearly 400 students from kindergarten through high school, as well as more than seventy employees and many other volunteers, we are a community devoted to Christian education.

L’École L’Eau-Vive is unique because it is the only accredited private Christian school in Quebec City. Since August 2001, we have been offering students a quality education from a biblical world view, both of which are essential to our students’ growth and development.

OUR MOTIVATION

At L'École L'Eau-Vive, we offer students a quality education while reinforcing the biblical values taught both at home and at church. Knowing that each child is fearfully and wonderfully made, a unique, complex and multidimensional creation of God, pushes us to structure diverse and enriching learning environments. We are often privileged to accompany students from kindergarten all the way through to their high school graduation. Students of all ages, as well as abundant cultural diversity, characterize our school and create a friendly family atmosphere favorable to authenticity and reciprocity.

Our heart’s desire is to see young people flourish and succeed as they discover their identity in Christ.

What an honor, watching students mature, spurring them on to be the best they can be while encouraging their thirst for God and his glory!

OUR HISTORY

Our history

Until the turn of the century, several Christian public schools existed in the province of Quebec. With the dawn of a new millennium, and as the result of efforts to secularize the Quebec school system, public schools lost the right to include religious instruction as a part of their educational projects. Thus, confessional schools had to either close their doors or give up biblical teaching as a part of the curriculum.

A small but determined group of courageous believers in Quebec City stepped out in faith and sought a permit to operate a private confessional school.

Defying expectations, the Ministry of Education rapidly issued this permit, authorizing the creation of a private confessional school serving students from preschool through high school. Private status enabled the school to pursue an educational mission centred on biblical values while hiring like-minded staff. And so was born L'École L'Eau-Vive, a melding of three Christian public schools. Permission was not the only miracle: not only did the Ministry issue a permit, but this authorization was also accompanied by a government grant.

By the grace of God and the hard work of many educational pioneers, the doors opened for the 2001 academic school year. We welcomed 72 students that August. Since then, our student body has continued to grow (nearly 400 students today), so much so that we now need a larger facility if we hope to continue to serve our community well!

EDUCATION PROJECT

L'École L'Eau-Vive is a private French-language evangelical Protestant school offering education at the preschool, elementary and secondary levels leading to a high school diploma awarded by the Quebec Ministry of Education.

School staff members profess faith in Jesus Christ and are committed to the school’s mission.

We believe that an innovative education based on godly principles and that relies on proven pedagogy is essential to the development of the whole person. To fulfill this task and to ensure continuity in the transmission of these essential values, L’Eau-Vive partners with parents and churches for a Christ-centered education of children.

We understand that our students are first and foremost individuals created in the image of God. Many different home and church backgrounds as well as different societies and cultures are represented within our student body. Thus, we offer students structure and boundaries within a relaxed family atmosphere. Older students come alongside younger students. These unique characteristics create an environment conducive to educational success and personal growth.

We are also convinced of the advantages of professional collaboration; therefore, our school is a member of the Quebec Federation of Private Schools. Additionally, our school is recognized and subsidized by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

The following Statement of Faith is from The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada. It was approved by the school board of L'École L'Eau-Vive on May 27th, 2019.

The Holy Scriptures, as originally given by God, are divinely inspired, infallible, entirely trustworthy, and constitute the only supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.Our Lord Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh; we affirm his virgin birth, sinless humanity, divine miracles, vicarious and atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension, ongoing mediatorial work, and personal return in power and glory.

The salvation of lost and sinful humanity is possible only through the merits of the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, received by faith apart from works, and is characterized by regeneration by the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit enables believers to live a holy life, to witness and work for the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Church, the body of Christ, consists of all true believers.

Ultimately God will judge the living and the dead, those who are saved unto the resurrection of life, those who are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
