A word from the principal

What a pleasure to welcome you on our website. Browsing on it will allow you to get a glimpse of the wonderful reality of our school, which comprises 343 students from kindergarten to grade 11, as well as more than seventy employees and a large number of volunteers who are fully devoted to Christian education.

L’École L’Eau-Vive is unique in the fact that it is the only accredited private Christian school in the city of Québec. Since it became private in August 2001, the school has been offering the students a quality education in an environment that brings forth biblical values, which are essential to their personal development.

We invite you to take note of our educational project and of our confession of faith. You might observe that our staff strives to live out our motto on a daily basis:

With God’s help, we will do mighty things

Psalm 60:12 New Living Translation

Our website, as well as our school, is growing. We gladly invite you to come and visit us, virtually or in person, so you can follow the school’s great progression through the years and know our mission better.

We are proud to invite you to start your discovery of our school through our website.

History

Rich of its past, alive in the present and motivated by its future, L’École L’Eau-Vive, as its name portrays it, is a source of education from which the values that have formed our history are still flowing.

A minimum of history is essential to your understanding of the New Life, or Rebirth, of L’École L’Eau-Vive. During the ’80s, here in the city of Québec, three Christian schools were founded and they grew within our public denominational school system, and they were different from the other schools by their evangelical protestant character. The quality of their teaching and of their Christian education has helped many children to succeed.

In the early 2000s, a movement towards a non-confessional school system prevented public schools from having a religious educational project, so all of the French protestant schools in this area ran the risk of being closed down.

Thankfully, the story doesn’t end there. In 2001, a group of Christians who refused to see their school being closed down took the necessary steps with the government to obtain a private educational institution status. Founded on the convictions of many parents and fortified by the support of some of the previous three Christian schools’ staff members, L’École L’Eau-Vive was getting ready for its new life. Against all odds, the government quickly issued a license for the institution along with a grant, allowing us to teach from preschool to the end of high school. The school then became able to keep its Christian status, to pursue its educational mission centered on biblical values and to continue to select its employees.

At the school start of 2001, by God’s grace and the relentless work of many pioneers, 72 students inaugurated this new L’École L’Eau-Vive. A lot of work still needed to be done, there were multiple challenges ahead of us and a new page of history was being written. Year after year, the student body has kept growing and 15 years later, there are 343 students.

The principal, all of our staff, the students and their parents are still very motivated and they’re collaborating in an environment where education is centered on Christ.
